Welcome to the KJ Charles fanworks exchange! We hope you're excited about making new KJ Charles fanworks for other fans.

Rules Summery: 1,000 word minimum for fic & podfic or one piece of art exchange, matching based on fandoms, creators can offer fic, podfic or art. Content moderation rules apply. Sign ups will be done through the AO3 Collection. Contact your mods at kjcharlesxchange@gmail.com

What is this exchange?
This is a multifandom exchange for fanworks based in the universes of books written by KJ Charles.

How do I participate?
You need an AO3 account to sign up for the exchange here.

How can I contact the mods?
You can email us at kjcharlesxchange@gmail.com, ask us a question on tumblr, or comment with a question on this post.

Are crossovers allowed?
Crossovers between K. J. Charles fandoms are allowed, but crossovers with non-K. J. Charles fandoms are not. You can indicate in your sign up that you would like a crossover, but should also be prepared to receive a gift that only uses one fandom, as you may be matched with someone who did not offer both fandoms. “Fusions” that place the K. J. Charles characters in another universe are allowed, but should primarily focus on characters from a K. J. Charles fandom.

Obviously the K. J. Charles “universe” includes some natural crossovers, where characters from other books are mentioned in series where they are not the main focus. You can indicate you would like these “non-central” characters included, but if your gifter did not offer the originating fandom you may receive a gift that only deals with the “central” book characters. If you have any questions as a requester or a gifter, please get in touch with your mods.

Original characters?
You may not make original characters the central characters of your fanwork. Please don’t request original characters as main characters, or create a fanwork featuring only OCs. OCs can, of course, be used as characters in fanworks that include existing KJ Charles characters, but the fanwork should primarily focus on existing K. J. Charles characters.

What about kidfic?
As long as the work also focuses on existing K. J. Charles characters, please feel free to make your child character an OC. This doesn't forbid OCs at all, just precludes situations where all the characters are OCs, or the appearance of KJ Charles characters is only in the background.

How are DNWs (Do Not Wants) treated?
Recipients can indicate their strict DNWs in their sign up, which gifters must observe. If you’re a gifter and you don’t understand your recipients' DNWs, or want some clarity, you can contact the mods. If you’re a recipient and you receive something that ignores your DNWs, contact your mods as soon as possible and we will arrange a pinch hit for you.

How will treats work?
There will be a dreamwidth post where participants can comment with the details of their sign ups & Dear Creator letters, and anyone is free to create treats based off those shared details. We won’t be otherwise compiling details for treats.

Treats will be posted to the same collection as assigned works, and have the same due date. No check-in is required for treats. The same content rules that apply to assigned works also apply to treats, but there is no minimum word count or time limit.

What about the new book?
We will not be matching on the new book, and you won't be able to request or offer it. However, you will be able to include it in any treat requests, and we'd encourage people to use the treats post on dreamwidth to connect with people interested in creating for the new book.

What if I hate my assignment/realise I can't complete my assignment/accidentally become embroiled in a high-stakes murder mystery over the inheritance of a noble family and am too busy trying to find the twins at the centre of the mystery?
